The test drive

A quick post to get this Blog under way.

We're half way through our test drive, enjoying a glass of wine with Amanda before heading out for a ceili in Clancys bar in Athy (just outside Dublin). The pub is listed as one of the "21 best bars in Ireland" and serves the "3rd best pint of Guinness in the whole of Ireland".

The van is working well; we're getting round the teething problems, and "confidence is high" that we'll be on the continent by the end of the month.

So far, we've visited Alistair for his 21st birthday (Loughborough), Mike and Sarah (Doveridge), then Alton Towers, the Lake District (both "on a whim") before getting the ferry from Holyhead to Dublin. We put in a quick day-trip to Belfast and then headed back down south to Athy.

We're heading to Dublin tomorrow, then all the way down south to get the ferry from Rosslare to Pembroke, after which we're looking forward to spending a few days with Dom and Debs (Llanvaches, Wales), and Matt and Nicole (Bristol) before seeing some of Dani's family (Bournemouth, Verwood, Farnborough) to say our last goodbyes.

We're taking some photos along the way, and the views all look so much better than looking out over the A3 near Tolworth.
